Study Secure Premium Health Insurance holders by ottonova have their Digital Confirmation (the M10 form) automatically sent to their university one month before the expected study start date! Expatrio will ask for your consent to process data and disclose it for exemption from compulsory insurance during the application process. After that we will send the exemption request for you to the our public health insurance partner one month before your semester starts, ensuring that your insurance details reach your university in time.
You can update your university details and your expected study start date up to one month before the semester start date listed on your Expatrio account.
Should you need to change your university details when your digital confirmation was already sent to your original university OR need us to send the digital confirmation to your university earlier please reach out to our customer support team.
If you would like to know whether your university has this digital confirmation, please contact your university directly. Do not forget: As a Study Secure Premium by ottonova insurance holder, this process will be done only one month before your expected study start date (as registered on your Expatrio portal), not sooner than that!
If your university informs you that they have not yet received the digital confirmation or you need the M10 sent earlier to your university because of early enrollment, please contact the Expatrio service team.
Please note that the exemption must be requested in writing from a public health insurance company and cannot be reversed. This means that if you opt for private health insurance, you will be covered by it for the entire duration of your studies without the option to switch to public health insurance. Once your studies are over and you start to work in Germany you will be free to choose between a private health insurance or a public health insurance provider again.
