You can transfer the amount of money required for the duration of your Blocked Account.
For example, if your Blocked Account is for 18 months and you are a student, you can transfer €17,856 (the number of months x the monthly required amount, 18 x €992 ).
If you need to block a higher amount than what is showing as the total required blocked amount, you should update the set-up of your Blocked Account on the Expatrio User Portal.
To do this, go to your Blocked Account status and click 'Change details' to start the process. Here, you can update the duration and monthly blocked amount.
This update will be immediate if you have no funds in your Blocked Account yet. If you already have funds in your account, our customer support team will process your change request within one business day.
If you are asked by visa authorities to show proof of funds for your university tuition fees, you can add this to your Blocked Account in the form of your Additional Basic Sum. Your 06 Blocked Amount Confirmation letter will show these funds!
You should not transfer more money than required for the duration of your Blocked Account. The ‘Total Blocked Amount’ already includes a €100 buffer, all fees for your Blocked Account, and the Additional Basic Sum (if required by the German authorities). We do not recommend sending more than the amount requested by the authorities. This excess amount will be sent back to you with your first monthly payout and will not be included in your 06 confirmation document.
