If you are coming to Germany without a valid visa and want to apply for a long-term residence permit later, we do not recommend to activate your Blocked Account straight away.
It would be better if you wait until your long-term residence permit is granted and activate the Blocked Account only then.
This is due to the fact that the German Authorities that are working with your application might be looking for the confirmation of financial coverage for the whole period of stay.
In case you start using the Blocked Account earlier, you may lack some money later on, which will slow down the process.
In addition you would need to extend the Blocked Account and with this you would need to add more funds to satisfy the requirements.
Therefore, it is in your best interest to keep the Blocked Account untouched until your visa is granted.
- If you are willing to activate your Blocked Account before the visa/residence permit is granted you will just need to submit the certificate of university enrolment and your bank account details through the Expatrio User Portal.
- If you have applied for Value Package and are willing to activate your Current Account from Monese as well, then the acceptance letter from your university would be sufficient for the Monese account activation.
