Many universities require an internship as part of your study program. A distinction is made between the following three types of internships:
- Intermediate internship: The internship is mandatory by the relevant study and examination regulations. The student must be matriculated at a university. Since you already have an insurance, as a student, you do not need a public health insurance.
- Preliminary or follow-up internship: It is mandatory to have a health insurance when you decided to make a preliminary or follow-up internship. You will have to pay it by yourself.
- Voluntary internship: As a voluntary intern, you will be insured like a normal employee.
