You can activate your ottonova Study Secure Premium private health insurance via your Expatrio user portal after you arrive in Germany and enrol at your German university.

To activate your ottonova Study Secure Premium private health insurance You will need your
- German address

Bank account details (an account opened under your own name)*
(If you have an Expatrio bank account, you can find your IBAN in the Banking tab on the Expatrio app)
Submit your activation request on your Expatrio portal
Step 1. Please log in your Expatrio user portal and navigate to Health insurance section.
Step 2. Click on your approved insurance application
Step 3. Click "activate"
Step 4. Provide your German address, your German phone number and your SEPA Bank account.
Step 5. Confirm that your university information is correct. Especially your semester start date.
Step 6. Click on "activate" button to complete the process.
Note: No need to worry, if you are completing the activation process before the start of your study semester. Your ottonova insurance will only begin from the start of your semester.
Please note that your monthly health insurance premium will be deducted from the bank account you provide. Our system will walk you through the activation process step by step, and we will keep you updated about the progress after you submit your activation request.
Once your semester starts,
You will receive a confirmation email from ottonova after the activation, click the activation link in the email and you will be asked to create the password for your ottonova app. Please note: you will need a phone number to receive the one-time pin for pairing the app with your phone.
With the ottonova app, you will be able to see all your insurance information, download all the necessary documents, reimburse your medical costs, and consult the concierge service.
*Bank account details : Please note that the IBAN must support SEPA Direct Debit.
