Can parents open a blocked account for their child?
If parents or legal guardians also plan to go to Germany, they can open a blocked account in their own name and use it for visa and residence-related purposes. This is subject to approval by the visa authorities. The account will belong to the parents or guardians, and minors will not be able to directly manage or use the account.
How to apply for a blocked account in the parent's name?
- Confirm visa requirements: Please consult the visa authorities to confirm whether a family can share one blocked account.
- Parents apply for the account: Submit the blocked account application using the parent's passport information.
- Activate the account: After arriving in Germany, the parent must complete identity verification with their passport to activate the account. To learn how the blocked account activation process is, please check here.
What if the parents are not going to Germany?
