If you have the Study Secure Premium Health Insurance by ottonova, your digital Confirmation (the M10 form) is automatically sent to your university no later than one month before your official semester starts.
Expatrio will ask for your consent to process data and disclose it for exemption from compulsory insurance during the application process. After that we will send the exemption request for you to the our public health insurance partner after your insurance application is approved, ensuring that your insurance details reach your university in time.
You can update your university details and your expected study start date from your user portal. Please check here to know how to change your university details.
If you would like to know whether your university has this digital confirmation, please contact your university directly.
If your university informs you that they have not yet received the digital confirmation or you need the M10 sent earlier to your university because of early enrollment, please contact the Expatrio service team.
Please note that the exemption must be requested in writing from a public health insurance company and cannot be reversed. This means that if you opt for private health insurance, once the exemption is sent, you will be covered by it for the entire duration of your studies without the option to switch to public health insurance. Once your studies are over and you start to work in Germany you will be free to choose between a private health insurance or a public health insurance provider again.
