What is a SEPA direct debit?
SEPA direct debit (SDD) is a payment option where you can provide your bank account details to a business or individual, and they can withdraw payments from your account. It is commonly used for recurring payments such as utility bills, loan repayments, subscriptions, and other regular payments.
Setting up a SEPA direct debit requires your approval (authorization), meaning that it is not possible without your specific agreement. This makes it a safe and easy payment method.
How do I cancel a SEPA direct debit?
If you have previously approved a SEPA direct debit on your bank account but want to stop future payments, you can withdraw the authorization for this SEPA direct debit by contacting the business or individual who is charging you this way.
Note that depending on your agreement/contract with them, you might not be able to cancel the service itself right away, and in that case, you will have to set up an alternative payment option with them.
What do I do if the other party does not cancel the SEPA direct debit?
If, for any reason, the business or individual declines your request to cancel the SEPA direct debit you authorized earlier, or if they continue to charge you via SEPA direct debit even after you withdraw your consent, you can contact Expatrio to request to reject these SEPA direct debit attempts in the future.
For this option, please send us the below details of a previous payment:
- name of the business or individual that is charging you
- date of a previous payment
- amount of a previous payment
We will use these details to identify the SEPA direct debit that you want to block in the future.
Once we have these details, we will contact Aion Bank to request that they reject all future direct debit attempts from this business or individual's bank account.
