You don’t need to transfer funds immediately when creating a Blocked Account, and your Expatrio account will not expire or be deactivated if you don’t make a transfer right away.
However, if your account has been inactive for a while, please check your payment details before sending any funds. This is important because the IBAN number of your blocked account may no longer be valid if your account was created some time ago.
Once you set up a payment, the payment will have an expiration date. If the transfer is not completed within 1 month, we will cancel the payment.
When transferring with Flywire payment
You will have 24 to 72 hours to transfer your funds if you initiated the payment with Flywire . This is necessary because of the constant change of currency exchange rates. Your 'Flywire transfer details' document will confirm the exact due date. Please be aware of this when you're ready to transfer your funds.
If you do not transfer by the end of the due date you will have the option to renew the invoice.
When transferring with Direct transfer in EUR
If you use the details on your 05 Blocked Account Opening Confirmation, there is no specific deadline or time limit for you to transfer the Total Blocked Amount to your Blocked Account. This is because you are transferring in EUR with this option, and the changes in exchange rates do not matter in this case.
You will be able to receive the 06 Blocked Amount Confirmation only after the full Blocked Amount is transferred and accepted by our banking partner and Expatrio.
The creation of a Blocked Account with no funds will not be sufficient for you to apply for the residence permit. You need to transfer the funds to the account to have a valid blocked account.
