With Expatrio, you can transfer your blocked amount in several different ways.

Flywire supports over 140 currencies and operates in more than 240 countries and regions. As one of Expatrio’s official partners, Flywire ensures that your money transfers—such as sending funds to your Blocked Account—are handled smoothly, fast, with low fees, and with full transparency.
You can also choose the EUR bank transfer option and transfer the funds to the details of your blocked account with your bank or an international transfer company of your choice.

The Payment Process
1) Go to your Payment Page
Please go to your Blocked Account Status from your Expatrio User Portal. Select 'My Payments' under Blocked Account.
2) Initiate the Payment
Here, you will see your pending payments and can set up a new one by clicking the '+ Initiate payment' button.
3) Choose the country from which you will transfer your funds
After clicking on the '+ Initiate payment' button choose the country of payment initiation. The transfer must be made from a bank account located in the country that you selected here.
4) Choose the amount you want to transfer
This can be the total amount required in your blocked account or a smaller portion if you prefers to transfer in parts.The payment setup tool will indicate the minimum amount you can choose, usually 10% of the required amount.
You can also see the maximum amount you can transfer. You can transfer a maximum of 25,000 euros to your Blocked Account; if you need more, contact us.
Your pending amount is the amount you need to transfer according to the monthly blocked amount you choose (usually 992 Eur) and the length of your blocked account (usually 12 months), together with the fees.
The Maximum amount allowed is fixed for everyone and does not change based on your monthly amount or the length of your blocked account.
The minimum amount you can transfer is almost %10 of your pending amount.
5) Choose who will be sending the funds to your Blocked Account
Please choose who will be transferring the funds. Will the funds be transferred from an account under your name or someone else's name?

Funds must be transferred from your personal bank account or from one of the following close family members’ accounts:
Spouse
Parent
Step-parent
Sibling
Step-sibling
Grandparent
Aunt/Uncle
Cousin
Child
Transfers from any other third-party accounts may be rejected by the bank.
6) Give the sender's details
Please write the details of the person who will make the transfer to your Blocked Account.
Page will ask for the payer's personal details, contact details, and address details.
7) Choose the payment method of your choice
The possible payment methods vary depending on the country you chose as the 'Country of payment initiation' at the beginning of the process, and the reason you are coming to Germany. Check this article to see what payment options you will have.
If you are eligible for the Flywire transfer method, it will be selected as your default payment option.
If you prefer to use the International Bank Transfer in EUR method, please select “Switch to Manual Bank Transfer.”
❗️IMPORTANT❗️: Only you or your family members (spouse, parent or step-parent, sibling or step-sibling, grandparent, aunt/uncle, cousin, or child) may transfer the funds to your blocked account. Transfers from friends, business accounts, or sponsoring institutions are not permitted.
Expatrio recommends using the "Flywire Payment - Domestic and International payment options" method when available to benefit from a cheap, fast, and secure fund transaction process.
8A) Flywire Payment( Domestic and International payment option)
When available, Expatrio recommends the transfer with Flywire domestic and international payment option. With this option, you benefit from a cheap, fast and secure transfer process.
Step-by-Step Instructions for Flywire
8/A/1) If you are eligible for Flywire option, you will automatically be shown the Flywire Transfer as a method.
8/A/2) Provide Transfer Details
- Depending on your country and payment method (bank transfer, debit/credit card, or education loan), you may need to provide additional information, such as the payer relationship or PAN details.
Please note: The process differs for different countries and payment methods. Below is just an example of INR transfers from India for a Bank transfer or an education loan transfer.
- If you choose the Debit/Card payment option, provide the card details to continue the transfer.
8/A/3) Complete the transfer
- Complete the payment, the funds should arrive your blocked account soon.
- You can check the transfer status by clicking “Back to your Transfers” in your Expatrio portal.
Please be sure you followed the instructions provided by Flywire.
8/A/4) Wait for funds to arrive
You will receive an email confirmation from Expatrio once your funds have arrived into your Blocked Account.
8/B) International Bank Transfer in EUR
Choose this option if you prefer to send the funds directly from your bank or an international remittance service in Euros. Once you select this method, you will receive your blocked account bank details and can complete the transfer using your preferred provider.
Step-by-Step Instructions for International Bank Transfer in Euro
8/B/1) Select "Switch to Manual Bank Transfer" or "International Bank Transfer(when it's shown) and submit the transfer request.
8/B/2) Download the "05 Opening Confirmation" to for your transfer detail.
Go to My Payments > Select your newly initiated payment
Scroll to Documents section
Download the 05 Opening Confirmation, which contains all recipient and bank details (IBAN,BIC) needed for the transfer
Your name will be listed as the recipient. This is because your blocked account is under your name. It means that you should add your own details as the recipient/beneficiary account holder to the transfer to your blocked account.
Note: If your details (like address or name) on the 05 Opening Confirmation letter are incorrect, please cancel the payment (click on CANCEL NOW), update your personal details, and initiate a new payment to receive a new 05 Letter with the correct information.
To update your details: Please go to Menu> Personal Data and click on "Edit information".
8/B/3) Make the transfer from your bank or transfer provider
- Use the bank details provided in 05 Opening Confirmation for your transfer via your bank or transfer provider (e.g., Instarem/NIUM, xCurrency).
8/B/4) Wait for the funds to arrive
International transfers typically take 1–5 business days to reach your blocked account.
9) Wait for funds to arrive in your Blocked Account and get your 06 Confirmation Letter
Once all the required blocked amount reaches your blocked account, you will be able to download your "06 Blocked Amount Confirmation" document from the Expatrio User Portal.
The only exception is if, for any reason, our banking partner has not verified your passport yet. If this is the case, we will try to proactively inform you, but should you not get your 06 Blocked Amount Confirmation when your blocked account balance is already sufficient, please let us know.
Note: Our payment partner, Flywire, will forward your funds to your blocked account right after receiving them, but this process can still take a few business days. Because of this, you will get your 06 Blocked Amount Confirmation sooner than having the actual balance in your blocked account when you choose the Flywire option to transfer your funds.
