Information for Family Reunion Visa / Residence Permit Applicants (Blocked Account)

With Expatrio, you can open a blocked account for a Family reunion visa/residence permit!

Please be informed that the individual requirements and monthly blocked amount always vary based on the authority issuing your visa/residence permit. Therefore, you must ※consult this with your respective visa authority/foreigners' office before opening a blocked account.

If the total amount you will need to block is higher than € 22834, we recommend requesting an official document (or an official email) stating the following:

1. the required monthly blocked amount
2. duration of the blocked account
3. who should be the holder of the blocked account 

Note: Minors (under 18-year-old) can not open a blocked account on their own, therefore they should be included in the Blocked Account opened under the name of one of their parents. We can not open a blocked account for minors coming to Germany without a parent.

Important: 'family reunion' cannot be chosen as the profession in the application flow, it is rather a visa category- you will be redirected to this article every time you choose 'family reunion' option as profession and won't be able to proceed with the application itself.

1. If you are the Main Visa/Residence permit obtainer, a blocked account must be opened under your name.
   
   
2. Choose your profession based on the what you will do in Germany (e.g. Student, Employee, Language Student, etc.). Important: 'family reunion' can not be chosen for this field - you will be redirected to this article every time you choose this option and won't be able to proceed with the application itself.
   
   
3. Adjust the BLOCKED AMOUNT PER MONTH and DURATION OF STAY based on the document you have received from the authority.

Calculating your BLOCKED AMOUNT PER MONTH:

Important: The calculations below are examples only; you should not take these as confirmation of the actual blocked amount you need. You should consult the Visa office handling your application to understand the blocked amount requirement towards you.

Example 1:

• • you want to obtain a 12-month visa/residence permit 
  • authority required € 934/month( And highly €992 from 01 Sept 2024) for each adult and half of that for the child
  • 2 adults, 1 child household
    € 934 (Please note the monthly amount will be change to €992 from 01 Sept 2024 on so please calculate accordingly) + € 934 (€ 992 from 1 Sept 2024) + € 467 (€ 496 from 1 Sept 2024) =  € 2,335/month (€ 2480/month from 1 Sept 2024)

Example 2:

• • you want to obtain a 6-month visa/residence permit 
  • authority required a total of € 11,208, (€ 11904 after September 2024)
    € 11,208 (€ 11904 after September 2024) ÷ 6 months = € 1,868/month (€ 1984 after September 2024)

1. If you are the adult individual who will be issued a family reunion visa, a blocked account must be opened under your name.
   
   
2. Choose your profession based on the profession you will take in Germany.
   
   
3. Adjust the BLOCKED AMOUNT PER MONTH and DURATION OF STAY based on the document you have received from the authority.
