Yes, you can get a blocked account for more than 12 months!
But please note if the total blocked amount is over €25000, our banking partner requests a written confirmation from the authority handling your visa application confirming the amount you need to be blocked.
To apply for a Blocked Account over 12 months, please do the following:
Apply for a 12-month Blocked Account on our website. (Because that is the longest on the application page.)
Afterwards, you can submit a change request via your Expatrio User Portal to extend it over 12 months.
Please go to the Blocked Account menu and look for the 'Change Details' button there. Click on it, provide the new Blocked Account set up you need, and submit your request.
If your blocked account does not have sufficient funds yet, the changes you requested will be reflected immediately on your Expatrio portal. Please refresh your page to see them.
If your request is to lower the monthly amount or number of months, our customer support team will receive your change request and get back to you if further action is required.
If you already have a live Blocked Account with Expatrio and want to extend your Blocked Account, please click here to check our article Can I extend my Blocked Account?
Please bear in mind if you need a blocked account for longer than 24 months, it is necessary to send written confirmation from the German Visa Authorities handling your visa application requesting a blocked account for longer than 24 months.
