You will receive your Health Insurance number after you arrive in Germany and activate your Health Insurance. You do not need to provide this number in your university enrolment form. 

In most cases, your university will not ask for it, or the field is not mandatory to fill in. 

Before your insurance is activated

If you have TK public health insurance, ottonova Study secure and Provisit student private health insurance, our insurance partners take care that your university receives your M10 Health Insurance certificate directly to your university on your behalf. The M10 document is an official confirmation of your Health Insurance coverage in Germany and is accepted by universities for enrollment purposes. This means your university does not need the insurance number from you at this stage.

If you have trouble enrolling without your permanent insurance ID we recommend to contact your university directly for support. 

After your insurance is activated

You will receive the insurance number shortly after the insurance provider confirms your insurance activation. You will find it on your insurance certificate. 

If you don't have it after your insurance activation, please contact your insurance provider directly.
