You will start to pay the monthly fee for your health insurance either from your arrival date in Germany or from your semester start date at the German university, depending on your insurance type. Please see an overview of insurance start dates per insurance type below.
If you have one of the below insurances your insurance start date will be matched to your semester start date, which means that your charges will start with the same date too.
- TK public health insurance
-
DR-WALTER Provisit Student (substitutive) private health insurance
-
Ottonova Study Secure (substitutive) private health insurance
Please note that even if you activate the insurance with a delay (for example 1-2 months after the semester starts), the insurance start date will be backdated to the semester start date.
If you arrive some months earlier than the semester start date, you will be covered by the free Incoming Travel Health Insurance that will automatically added to your application.
In case you have the DR-WALTER Educare24 private travel health insurance through Expatrio, your insurance charges will start from your arrival date in Germany.
